Getting here

The drive from Wakefield

From Wakefield, take the A638 Dewsbury Road through Ossett and follow it towards Dewsbury, then pick up Bradford Road (A652) into Batley. Coming off the M1, leave at junction 40 and join the A638 westbound - the yard is well placed for anyone who commutes that corridor daily.

What locals store

How Wakefield uses MB Storage

Wakefield customers tend to be families mid-house-move who want a bigger container for less, and small businesses that serve both Wakefield and the Heavy Woollen district and like having stock positioned between the two.

Every container comes with a high-quality padlock, sits behind gates with 24/7 motion-sensing CCTV, and opens on rolling monthly terms with just 14 days' notice. Questions? See our FAQs or read what fits in a 20ft container.

Which yard

Stourton for north Wakefield, Batley for the Ossett side

Wakefield sits at the edge of what we cover, so which yard you want depends on where in the district you are. From Outwood, Stanley and the north of the city, our Leeds yard at Stourton is the natural choice - straight up the A61 or the M1 to junction 44, about fifteen minutes, and new customers get 50% off the first two months.

From Ossett, Horbury and the western side, Batley is the easier run at about twenty minutes on the A650 - and it's the only one of our yards with 8ft containers and indoor units, so it's worth the extra few minutes if you don't need a full 20ft.

Quick answers

Wakefield storage questions

Is there anything closer than Batley to Wakefield?

Our Leeds yard at Stourton is often the better run from north and west Wakefield - up the A61 or M1 to junction 44, about fifteen minutes. Batley suits the Ossett and Horbury side better at around twenty.

Can I get in at night or on a Sunday?

Yes. The gate opens from your phone, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, bank holidays included. No slot to book and nobody to meet. The office is staffed Monday to Friday 9am - 6pm and weekends 10am - 6pm.

What deposit do you take, and do I get it back?

£150 on a 20ft container and £75 on an 8ft, taken with your first payment. It comes back in full when you leave, provided the unit is emptied and left as you found it. It isn't rent in advance and it isn't an admin fee.

How much notice do I have to give to leave?

Fourteen days, running from the day we receive it rather than to the end of the month. Rent runs by the calendar month, so if you know you're going it pays to tell us at least 14 days before the month ends.

Do I need a padlock, or insurance?

We supply a good padlock with every unit, so there's nothing to buy on the way. Contents insurance is down to you - many home policies extend to goods in storage, but ring your insurer rather than assume.
