Storage questions, answered

Everything you need to know about sizes, prices, security, access and moving in. Can't find your answer? Call 07375 355233 - a real person, whenever you need one.

How much does storage cost?

Simple flat monthly rates per container size, starting from under £100 a month, with nothing hidden - your padlock is included and the deposit is refundable. Fill in the instant quote form and your exact monthly price and deposit details land in your email inbox in under a minute, no obligation. Prefer to talk it through? Call 07375 355233.

Do you do discounts?

Yes, three ways. Pay 6 months upfront and save 5%, or 12 months upfront and save 10%. Businesses taking multiple containers get 10% off every container after their third. And new customers at our Leeds site get 50% off their first 2 months - a limited time launch offer, one unit per customer.

How do I actually get started and move in?

Three steps. 1) Get your instant quote by email. 2) Book online - one secure card payment (powered by Stripe) covers your refundable deposit plus your first rent, worked out daily from your move-in date. 3) We confirm your unit, hand over your padlock and set up your mobile phone gate access - often the very same day. After that you're invoiced monthly by email, due on the 1st.

What sizes do you offer?

Two container sizes: a 20ft × 8ft unit (~160 sq ft - roughly a single garage) at every site, and a compact 8ft × 6ft 6in unit (~52 sq ft) at Batley. Batley also has warehouse and garage units up to 2,700 sq ft, though these are currently fully let - get in touch to register your interest.

How much fits in a 20ft container?

More than you'd think - the contents of an average 2-3 bedroom home: sofas, beds, wardrobes, white goods, dozens of boxes, bikes and garden tools. Businesses fit substantial stock, materials or equipment in one. See the full 20ft size guide - if you're between sizes, most customers are surprised how much the 20ft swallows.

Do I have to sort my own lock?

No - we provide a high-quality padlock with every unit at no extra cost, so your unit is secured from day one. For consistent site security, only MB Storage padlocks are used.

Is there a minimum contract?

Not really - there's no long-term commitment. Storage starts from a one-month minimum, then it's rolling monthly. Just give 14 days' notice on containers (one calendar month for warehouse and garage units) when you're ready to leave, and your deposit is refunded when you go. If you'd rather commit for longer, paying 6 or 12 months upfront saves you up to 10%.

Is there a deposit?

Yes - a refundable deposit of £150 for a 20ft container or £75 for an 8ft, taken with your first payment when you book. It's returned in full when you leave, provided the unit is left as it was found.

Can I access my unit any time?

Yes - the yards are accessible 24/7 through our mobile phone gate entry system. Save the gate number in your phone, dial when you arrive and the gates open - no keypads, no fobs, no waiting for office hours. You drive right up to your container door to load and unload at ground level.

How secure are the sites?

Every site has 24/7 motion-sensing CCTV, electric or secured gates, mobile-phone-controlled entry and ample lighting. Every unit is secured with a high-quality padlock that we supply, and we support our customers around the clock - a real person is always on the end of the phone.

Can I store a vehicle?

Yes - cars, motorbikes and vans are welcome provided they're clean and won't make a mess of the unit. Vehicle storage is available at our new Leeds site; Batley also offers it but is currently full, so ask about the waiting list.

Do the units have electricity?

Containers don't have power - they're secure, dry steel units for storage. The warehouse and garage units at Batley are fully equipped with electricity, and our 2,500 sq ft warehouse at Liversedge also has running water and a small kitchen area.

What can I store - and what's not allowed?

Household contents, business stock, tools and equipment, office furniture, vehicles and more. The exclusions are the sensible ones: no perishable goods, no hazardous or flammable materials (including gas bottles and fuel), and nothing illegal - the full list is in our terms and conditions. Unsure about something? Just ask.

Do I need insurance?

We don't require it, but we do recommend it - your belongings remain your responsibility while in storage, and cover is entirely up to you. Most customers add storage cover to an existing home contents policy or arrange inexpensive standalone cover.

Can businesses use MB Storage?

Absolutely - many of our customers are businesses: e-commerce sellers storing stock, firms keeping overflow inventory, offices storing furniture between moves, and tradespeople keeping tools and materials secure. Take multiple containers and every one after your third is 10% off. Call 07375 355233 and we'll sort the right spaces and price, or see our business storage page.

Where are you located?

Four West Yorkshire sites: Batley (Greenhill Mills, Grange Road WF17 6LL), Liversedge (Wormald Street WF15 6BE), our new Leeds yard (Pontefract Road LS10 1DP - now open) and Brighouse (Calder Street HD6 1LZ, run by our sister company JB Storage Solutions).
